Order lifecycle

The states an assessment order moves through, and how each ATS sees them.

Each request from an ATS to assess a candidate becomes an order. Orders are keyed on the ATS application id plus the assessment id, so there is at most one open order per candidate application per assessment.

Rules

  • Repeat orders are safe. Sending the same order while it is open returns the same id and sends no second email.
  • Reopening. A cancelled or error order never reached a candidate, so sending it again reopens it.
  • Cancelling. If the candidate has not opened their link yet, cancelling also withdraws the invitation.
  • Timing. Completion depends on the candidate. Grading runs a few minutes after they submit their final piece of work.
